Pharmacoscintigraphic evaluation and antidiabetic efficacy of gliclazide-loaded 99mTc-labelled mucoadhesive microspheres

Abstract Background The current study was carried out to evaluate the possible application of Musa balbisiana starch in formulation mucoadhesive microsphere for oral delivery gliclazide (GLZ). objective improve bioavailability along with prolongation its duration action a better glycaemic control. Ionic gelation technique employed formulating dosage form. Optimization batches by response surface methodology using 3 2 full factorial designs. prepared characterized several parameters vitro release study. gastrointestinal transit optimized batch microspheres after administration studied rabbits gamma scintigraphy utilizing 99mTc as labelling agent presence stannous chloride. Also, pharmacokinetic parameters. Moreover, antidiabetic efficacy evaluated rats streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic model.
